It’s been almost 5 years I’ve been using OpenMailbox as my personal email service. Secured and respectful about privacy. But most importantly, it was working well.

Some problems were already here before the big update, such as bad communications from the admin and “Bad gateway”errors for some. At least I could always send a receive emails. But right after, it was much more complicated to enjoy correctly the service: big latency and many bugs. For IMAP support I’m not complaining about the fact that is only available through a paid account, if I could use my mailbox correctly, it was fine. But it isn’t anymore now.

If you’re looking for alternatives at OpenMailBox or Gmail, you can use ProtonMail which is also secured and open source. I’ve made my choice.
